The definition of a box draft is one where more than one owner can draft a particular player.

We have a number of features to help support a box draft pool. By specifying your pool as Box Draft pool, some charts will change their content to better reflect that type of drafting situation and your pool administrator will be able to use a simple form to speed up player selection for each team.

(If you don't do a box draft like the one pictured below, but your pool does allow your poolies to draft any players they wish and the lists of players can have overlap, then you should still specify your pool as a box draft.)

We have a method to let the administrator set up a box draft selection page for faster selection of poolie teams as shown in the example image below.

We DO (NEW September 2007) have a method to set up a box draft and allow your poolies to make their own player selections online.

On the Admin Page, click on the Setup Box Draft button.

Enter the number of boxes you want to set up and the number of players in each box. (in the example picture above, there are 4 boxes, labeled 'Handymen', 'Guys', 'Other Guys' and 'Penalties?' and there are 4 players in each box).

If your draft can have a different number of players in some boxes, then enter the MAXIMIUM number of players in any one box. (i.e. if some boxes have 5 players, but some have 4, enter 5 as the number of players in each box.)

Then, press 'Update'. Fill in the Category names and scoring type for the box and then enter the last name of each player for each slot in the box.

For selections that are empty (see note on "different number of players" above) for a particular box, enter the special player 'one' for "No One" for the empty player fields.

Press 'Update' until the system has filled out the full names of the players. Then press save.

When you then go to each team on the Initialize & Edit Pool page, there will be an option at the top of the page to do the player selection using the Box Draft Selection process. If you select that, you will see a selection page much like the one pictured above.

Do all the steps above to enable box drafting.

Then, on the Admin Page, click on Setup Trash Talk for Your Poolies and then click on the check box next to Enable Trash Talk, and press Save at the bottom of the page.

All of your poolies will now be able to go to the Daily Stats Page, login to their trash talk with their passwords and make their player selections there.

This might be a bit much for them to take in all at once, so you can click on the Show Box Draft Poolie Links button and get a unique URL that you can give to each of your poolies so that they can login and select their players. There are two options on that page to send to each team. The simple URL plus their Team Name and Password, or a single, long URL that has all the information encoded in it.

On the Admin page, under "Show Box Draft Poolie Links" is a button to Lock or Unlock the selection. Remember to shut off selections once the season has started!
